The Ambassador of Cuba in Ireland makes a courtesy call to the Mayor of Cork, Ireland.

  Lord Mayor Cllr Deirdre Forde and Assistant Chief Executive Brian Beaney, given a cordial and warm welcomed this day to Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Bernardo Guanche Hernández, who on a courtesy call, thus began his program of two days of meetings in this important Irish city.

During a profitable meeting for both parties, they exchanged on the potential that exists between Cork and Cuba, in particular, on issues such as trade and sports.

The Cuban diplomat explained to the senior dignitary in Cork the difficulties his country is going through, a victim of the US embargo and the consequences of the unjustified inclusion of his country on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism of the United States Department of State.

He also highlighted the excellent bilateral political-diplomatic relations and takes advance the opportunity to thank Ireland for its support and solidarity with his country.
