
Soviet Russia’s defeat of fascism saved humanity
Party First Secretary and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulates the Russian government and people on the 76th anniversary of their victory in the Great Patriotic War against fascism
The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, congratulated the Russian government and people, yesterday, on the 76th anniversary of their victory in the Great Patriotic War over fascism, a feat that saved humanity, which our grateful people will never forget,” he tweeted.
Andrei Anatolievich Guskov, Russian ambassador to Cuba, participated in the Havana tribute to those who fell in that war, and stated that their heroism “will always remain in our hearts, as a symbol of patriotism and sacrifice for the good of humanity.”
The ceremony, presided by Major General Ramón Pardo Guerra, was also attended by the head of the Belarus diplomatic mission in the Cuba, Alexander N. Alexandrov, and chargés d’affaires of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Azamat Abdraimov and Ilham Aghayev, respectively. After the laying the floral wreaths at the site from these embassies, the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, seven trees were planted in the Garden of Memory.
“The victory against fascism not only preserved the lives of millions of people, but also saved the millenary legacy of human culture, the sense of human dignity and our spiritual world,” said Brigadier General José Ángel Sánchez Fabré.
